The facilities at Kirkley Hall Zoo are set in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, just a few miles from Ponteland and Morpeth.

There is something for everyone here and it makes the perfect day out or place to visit for the entire family.

Children’s play areas
Young children can have fun on the swings and slide next to our indoor glasshouses and enjoy seeing tropical fish and terrapins.  Older children (6-11 years) will enjoy playing in the climbing forest which features ropes, rocks, hills and mounds and is a great way to explore.

River and forest trail
Follow the signs on our river and forest trail to guide you on the path of a variety of wildlife and flowers. Dogs on leads are welcome on the trail. Appropriate footwear is advised as the terrain can be uneven and muddy.
Unfortunately the trail is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Petting barn
Visit our petting barn for a hands on experience with rabbits and guinea pigs.

Orangery tea room
The Orangery Tea Room is the perfect place to relax, have a catch up with friends and enjoy a bite to eat. Choose from a selection of sandwiches, soup, jacket potatoes and cakes.

Opening hours for the tea room are:

11am – 2pm week days (During term time)
10am – 5pm weekends and school holidays (May-September)
10am – 4pm weekends and school holidays (October-April)

Gift shop
Pick up a souvenir in our gift shop which has a range of animal related gifts, countryside produce, crafts and a selection of plants and hanging baskets grown in the Kirkley Hall gardens.

We have a plenty of parking onsite in addition to an overspill car park, this is free to all customers. There are several marked disabled parking bays.

Picnic areas
We have a number of picnic benches and grassed areas around the site which you are welcome to use.

Baby changing facilities
We have baby changing facilities both in the Orangery Tea Room and at the zoo.

Disabled access
Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens and the Orangery Tea room are both wheelchair and pushchair friendly. However, unfortunately due to the terrain of the river and forest trail it is not advised that you try to access this area.
